What Was It Like?

I wonder what it was like
To be swallowed by a whale
Regurgitated from it later
Stomach acid bleached and pale

I wonder what it was like
In the ark listening to it rain
Hear the cries of the drowning
As they endured panic and pain

I wonder what it was like
The parting of the Red Sea
Watching Pharaoh’s army destroyed
As God had so decreed

I wonder what it was like
To meet God on the mount
The Commandments Moses received
A total of ten, the count

I wonder what it was like
Into a fiery furnace thrust
Coming out safe, no burns
Because in God, put their trust

I wonder what it was like
To follow a shining star
To a cold Bethlehem stable
Left their sheep, came from afar

I wonder what it was like
For God to become a man
In three years of ministry
He revealed His holy plan

I wonder what it was like
To die on that rugged cross
To know Christ died willingly
Making a way for the lost

I wonder what it will be like
To go to Heaven, live with Him
Excited, I know I can’t wait
My cup overflows, filled to the brim
