Autumn Reflections
The smell of wood smoke in the air
As leaves fall like a golden shower
Farmers laboring in their fields
Harvesting crops, many long hours
Pumpkins at a roadside marketplace
Piled high in an orange pyramid
People attending a country auction
Hoping to place the highest bid
Football teams are practicing daily
Dreams of winning are foremost
Parents shopping for kid’s costumes
Goblins, vampires, and scary ghosts
Assorted hues of a garden of mums
A school bus is on a country road
Vintage tractors and classic cars
Hayride, festive wagons being towed
Squirrels are preparing for winter
Storing away all that they can
Everything going the way it should
According to God’s creation plan
For it’s the changing of the seasons
And there’s crispness in the air
Sweaters, sweatshirts, desired attire
Enjoying the beauty that God shares
Possibly it’s the turning of the leaves
Or making maple syrup out of sap
And maybe it’s getting comfy, relaxing
For a well deserved afternoon nap
For each of us has different memories
Things that stand out in our minds
And the simple beauty of it all is
It comes from a loving God so kind
