If Thoughts Are Worth A Penny

If thoughts are worth a penny
As the colloquial saying implies
Then some of us are in bad shape
A truth most of us can’t deny

If for my thoughts I was offered
I would take that penny and run
Because trying to think of something new
Sometimes it isn’t a lot of fun

Another saying is “one in the hand
Is always better than two in the bush”
So that penny sounds good right now
If ever shove, it replaces push

Now if I am talking in riddles
My brain is working in overdrive
It happens when my thoughts merge
And ciphering them I really strive

So, if push comes to shove
And I sell my thoughts for a penny
A rich man I will never be
Because my thoughts are few, not many
